Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship with community service. He was the youngest son of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. In football, he was alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. Also, they won two national championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa which is where he played for 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youngsters of the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when he played college football. He was a captain in 1975. was on the team. group. In 1993, he was appointed the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
